There are two type of character effects I worked on Banishers : Ghosts Of New Eden. The ones for the enemies, those for the settlers. For the enemies, I worked on three Amalgams : the Aghast, Aul Saul who is an Aghast variant and Nazuku. I had to use the same master material for all of them. I created differents results through masks, custom settings and different niagara systems. For the settlers I worked on the living and the ghosts. I simply created two variations of a niagara system for the essence of the living settlers. The ghosts were a bit tricky to create. We spent a lot of time trying different approaches, eventually sticking with the first test. They were made up of four elements : Their skin which was a masked material, their spectral flesh, a translucent material which took over the holes of the skin, the aura which is a bilboard skeletal, and the spectral and smoky particles in a niagara system.

I worked on the regular and beserk state of the Nazuku's character and particles effects (The emissive effects on the character, the dark and emissive smoke swirl particles, the spectral roots, smoke and dust particles).
I worked on the burning spectral aura, flames, roots and sparks.
I worked on the regular and spectral state of the Aghast's character and particles effects (The emissive effects on the character, the smoke and falling shards particles, and the spectral roots, smoke and dust particles).
I worked on the regular and spectral state of the Aul Saul's character and particles effects (The emissive effects on the character, the smoke and falling shards particles, and the spectral roots, smoke and dust particles).
I worked on every aspect of the ghosts character and particles effects (The dissolve and the emissive effects, the translucent parts, the spectral matter and the swirl particles).
